Information below is imported from the internet site of Dr. Stephen W. Porges, Ph.D. I am a fan of this "rockstar mental health specialist." Since talking in 2000 he and I have had some good conversations about Autonomic Nervous System regulation, Dysregulation and the Klinghardt Institute. I asked him about the insights of Dietrich Klinghardt, M.D., Ph.D. and am still "digesting" the insights he shared with me.
Dr Porges is a Distinguished University Scientist at the Kinsey Institute at Indiana
University Bloomington and Research Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry
at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Emeritus Professor of Human Development
at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Nalanda Institute's 9th Annual Benefit, "Love's Brain: The Science of Human
Connection." Join us in New York City as we honor our distinguished guest,
Dr Stephen Porges, who will be presenting his Polyvagal Theory based on his
pioneering study of the autonomic nervous system that has forever changed
our understanding of the nature of love, compassion, and the mind/body
practices to maintain a healthy life. It will be a stellar evening of scientific
discovery, festive dining and inspiring music. Friday, June 8, 2018, from
6-10 pm, at the New York Academy of Medicine. Please click HERE for more

NOW AVAILABLE!
The "Safe and Sound Protocol" (SSP) is now available for professional use! Dr Porges has chosen to work with Integrated Listening Systems (iLs) to introduce this product to the therapy market. iLs is a neurotechnology company that integrates music, movement and language exercises for the purpose of improving brain function. The SSP, formerly known as "The Listening Project Protocol" is based on more than 40 years of research investigating relationships between the autonomic nervous system and social-emotional processes. The SSP protocol is designed to exercise the neural regulation of components of auditory system involved in listening with specifically processed music.
Research suggests that following completion of the intervention, individuals will have reduced auditory hypersensitivities, improved auditory processing, improved behavioral and emotional regulation and will be better able to focus and attend in school, therapy and everyday life.

Additionally, heroines and heroes of community and cultural healing will share how they found a way through their traumatic experience to emerge stronger and a source of help to others.
Dr Stephen W. Porges will be presenting on June 13, 2018, at 8pm EST on "Connectedness as a Biological Imperative: Understanding Trauma Through the Lens of Polyvagal Theory".

In collaboration with Stanford's Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education, we are exited to announce the release of the Oxford Handbook of Compassion Science - the very first academic handbook exclusively dedicated to the topic of compassion. Gathering insights from top compassion researchers from around the world including a chapter by our lab, the chapters cover a wide range of topics from parenting to health. Dr Porges's chapter focuses on how ancient rituals stimulate vagal pathways, which shift physiological state and functionally open 'portals' to compassion.
